This ratio calculator finds missing values in proportional relationships by maintaining the same relative proportions at different scales. It performs the necessary multiplication and division automatically, regardless of the unit(s).
This webpage is presented in a different format than the rest of my website to make it more convenient to use and easier to save as an app.
This calculator is intended for designers, and only lists decimals up to 8 places long.
Say you have an object that is 1.25" at its current scale (100%), and you want to scale the object to be 1.33".
You'd enter into the calculator:
1.25 : 100 = 1.33 : x
Which results in:
106.4 (106.4%)
Or another way to phrase it:
If A : B then C : ?
1. Enter the known ratio into one side.
2. Enter the value you'd like to transform to.
3. Enter a variable (e.g. "x") in the box you want to solve for.
4. Click calculate for the result!
1. The units (whatever they are) should match on either side of the "=".
cm : % = cm : %
Qty : $ = Qty : $
(The calculator is not affected by and does not accept/denote units.)
2. The variable (e.g. "x") can go in any of the four slots.
3. You can use tab / shift+tab to quickly navigate the calculator.
4. The copy button copies the result to your clipboard. The reset button clears the calculator.
